The cost of refinishing of wooden floors, is but only a fraction of having new floors installed without any compromise on quality or durability.

Because real wood floors are so tough and resilient, they can be refinished many times over, looking as good as new even after may years of use.

Another remarkable aspect of refinishing a floor is the added advantage that you do not need to keep the same floor colour, but instead you can have the same floor stained in practically any colour of your choice and then seal on top of the stained floor as shown in the picture.

Cleaning is yet another positive, as only sweeping and a damp cloth are sufficient to keep the floor clean.

Floor Sanding Process

The process of sanding and sealing of  solid  wood floors, is a systematic process which involves the removal of the top layers of floor sealer or varnish which might be dull or scratched due to many years of exposure to different conditions.

Carpets that have been laid on top of hardwood floors, also present a challenge when being removed as the adhesive from the felt is usually left stuck to the surface of the floor.

This, as well as all types of grime and debris which might  embedded in the surface is nevertheless thoroughly removed whith an industrial floor sanding machine. This prepares and smoothes the surface to be coated with wood floor sealant. Prior to the sanding process, any holes or chips in the surface needs to be repaired or replaced if required. We also recommend that skirting be removed, stripped and varnished to blend in with the new floor, this also assists in getting the machine as close to the wall as possible. Painting of the wall and ceiling at this time would be ideal as there is a visible and very obvious continuity of floor, skirting and wall, which creates a room which is virtually brand new.
